About
In line with the Government’s objective of transforming Rwanda’s economy from an agrarian to a knowledge-based one; the Ministry of ICT and innovation developed an open data portal that aims to improve transparency, accountability and public participation. The project aims gather all public data and store them on a centralised portal that is easily accessible by everyone including software developers whose access to the data is essential in developing smart applications. The open data portal will link data publishers to data consumers.
Objectives
The Open Data Portal’s objectives include:
- Gathering and storing all non-sensitive data for easy access and use by public and private institutions, citizens, researchers, and software developers, among others.
- Generating new jobs by revolutionising services rendered by both public and private sectors.
- Enabling Rwanda to be at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) by making all non-sensitive data open by default.
